OVERVIEW

The Hospo Voice Member Organiser Placement is a structured 9-week placement for Hospo Voice union members who want to learn more about digital organising and campaigning, in order to take on an ongoing leadership role in Hospo Voice.

The Placement combines formal training, in the field experiences, and mentoring, to give Member Organisers the opportunity to build and grow Hospo Voice in your community.  

Member Organisers will work closely with the Hospo Voice team to build the union through learning:

  • How Hospo Voice campaigns and digital toolkit helps members turn the tables
  • How to talk to workers about join Hospo Voice and take action
  • Planning protests and other campaign actions 
  • Identifying and supporting new leaders and activists
  • Online to offline organising skills

You are required to attend a compulsory 5-day paid training workshop from Monday, 20 April to Friday, 24 April 2020, at the United Workers Union office in North Melbourne. 

For the subsequent 8 weeks thereafter, your placement will be a day each week and will also be paid (exact days to be decided between you and the Hospo Voice team). 

Successful applicants will be asked to commit to being a voluntary leader of Hospo Voice for the remainder of 2020.
